Hunter grew up in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Between family, sports, and the local church, he had a very active childhood. Early in his life, Hunter demonstrated a gift for working with kids, helping with and visiting church families. His upbringing as "the pastor’s kid" set a firm foundation that he is thankful for today.
In his teens, he volunteered at a camp ministry. It was there that Hunter gave his life to Jesus and surrendered his life to full-time ministry. Hunter likes to say the camp was his spiritual greenhouse -- helping him grow and mature. It was this camp experience that God used to change him and really give him the desire to work with and walk alongside families.
After 6 years of camp ministry, Hunter began to work for the Hope Church network of churches. The network grew through church planting and revitalization. Hunterserved as the Youth & Children’s Pastor for the Halifax location for 7 years. During that time, he grew the ministry and was able to serve in the new locations by helping with events and volunteer training.
He and his wife, Megan (a schoolteacher), have a young daughter, Casey.
Hunter has a long list of hobbies, but he truly enjoys anything outside, including kayaking, climbing, mountain biking, basketball, and bow hunting. He also knows way too much about movies.
Hunter’s life verse is Acts 20:24, “But I do not account my life of any other value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
