Mark AveryPastor Mark assists Pastor Garrett, our senior pastor, with leadership responsibilities and oversees Crossroads’ ministries, support activities, and strategic processes. He’s a “church nerd” who loves to serve people through effective processes, systems, and great teams—which are all super important at a church with a membership of 1,400 and a school with 210 students. One of his sources of joy is providing opportunities and encouragement for every Christian to find a place to worship, serve, fellowship, and give.
Mark, Cherith, and their four kids live near Moody AFB and enjoy the near-daily flyovers. Mark was in the Air Force for more than a decade and appreciates good air cover whenever he can get it.
When he’s not color-coding budget spreadsheets, fixing computers, or facilitating meetings, Mark likes to keep up with the news and read challenging books. He and Cherith love cheering on their kids while they compete in track, volleyball, baseball, and basketball.
Mark’s favorite Bible passage is “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)
